It’s been over a year since I did one of these posts, so I’m going to sum up my finds at my local thrift stores since the last post. Now, I don’t go every week, just whenever I get a chance, and also I don’t live in a big city, so It may not look like much for over a year, but it’s a lot for me.
A new Goodwill opened up, basically across the street from the Salvation Army that I go to so now I have twice the opportunity to find stuff! Everything here I paid 3 bucks or less for. The big box pc games in the back were only 89 cents! I’ve also started collecting old vhs tapes. Not sure why but I like them, and they’re really cheap. So far I’ve only been interested in old animated cartoons and movies.
Anybody think VHS tapes will be worth anything? 5-10 years ago everybody thought NES cartridges were worthless, look at them now… My guess is probably not. Pretty much anything on VHS has been re-released on DVD or Blue-ray. I’m just weird and I like them.
Sorry for the lack of posts. I decided to sum up my last few thrift store outings in one post. I know I already showed those 3 ps1 games, I forgot and I’m too lazy to take another picture.
Probably the biggest bargain I got was season one of the Big Bang Theory. Its complete and looks brand new. I only payed $3.99! I’m such a huge fan of Frankenstein, I had to get the vhs. Sudeki was a game I saw there a few times and nobody picked it up so i decided to give it a try. Its a pretty fun game that’s a Jrpg even though it was made in the UK. I’ve seen worse pc ports. It was a pain to install like most older pc games and it severely needs controller support. I’d recommend getting the steam version if you want to play it. I also got Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and 4 on this weird combo pack. I haven’t tried it out yet. Last but not least I picked up a PS1 at a goodwill for 5 bucks! I’ve always wanted one but couldn’t justify buying it because ive got my ps2 and ps3 that play ps1 games. When i saw it for 10 bucks during a half off sale I couldn’t resist.
Didn’t find anything on my latest trip to the Sal val, however I did see this weird Game Kit box. It included a joystick and a game pad controller, also two pc games: The Need For Speed and US Navy Fighter… something. Cool because its weird and unique but not worth it for me. I almost bought it because it was only 3 bucks but then i realized I’d mess with it when i got home but then it would live the rest of its days on my shelf… The controllers had serial end on them too, so I couldn’t use them.
Only other thing worth mentioning was a PS1 long box sports game.
Going to the sal val today was a good idea. Among the tons of old sports games nobody wants anymore were 3 real games: Rainbow Six, Spec-Ops: Covert Assult, and The Italian Job. I also found the diablo II expansion: Lord of Destruction with the play disc for the base game inside instead, and a sealed brand new copy of the Oblivion expansion: Knights of the Nine!
Pretty good day for game hunting.
